About Shipden and Colin and Carolyn........
A brief history of our kennel
The current strain of English Springers was founded in the early 1950s, but my family has owned the breed continuously since the summer of 1937.The aim of the kennel has always been to uphold the tradition of the dual-purpose aspects of the breed. The Border Terriers were added in 1970.The foundation of the present line was acquired in 1953 after several attempts at breeding, losses occuring through distemper etc. She was of mainly Field trial bloodlines carrying much O'Vara blood. Our affix has been in use for over half a century, and is taken from the name of a seaport, which was claimed by the sea several centuries ago. The ruins lie just off Cromer and have been a hazard to shipping over the years. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Scepedene. Read more at these links:- Shipden and Cromer
